Soccer star Teko Modise has allegedly dumped his fiancée, Lizelle Tabane, and again kicked her out of his palatial home in Ruimsig, west of Johannesburg.

Three sources close to both Tabane and Modise told City Press that the couple’s relationship was on the rocks because of a video – in which Tabane is seen with another man – doing the rounds.

The Mamelodi Sundowns player, one of the sources said, was now “fed up” with his model fiancée.

“Teko was gatvol when he saw the video and this is one of the reasons they broke up,” said a close friend of his.

Neither Modise nor Tabane responded to calls or SMSes requesting comment yesterday.

Modise must be very bitter because he has removed pictures of Tabane from his Instagram account and his profile, which used to display the words: “I’m engaged to the queen.”

The pictures were deleted a few weeks ago.

It has also been a month since Tabane took his engagement ring off her finger.

The gorgeous Tabane is known for her style, frequently changing her hairstyle and Louis Vuitton handbags.

One of her friends described her relationship with the Bafana Bafana fielder as “toxic”.

“One minute they are together and the next minute they are reported as no longer together. Lizelle always tells her friends that Teko is abusive and that he doesn’t have all the money people think he has,” the friend said.

Family and friends told City Press that the couple’s engagement and imminent marriage was not welcomed by Modise’s family.

It is alleged that Modise’s family does not approve of Tabane and this has been a constant source of friction from the start of the relationship.

“Lizelle is not welcome in his [Modise’s] family, but now there’s nothing they can do because he chose her,” said one of Tabane’s close friends.

Modise and Tabane have had an on-off relationship since they first hooked up in 2013.

The couple were engaged the same year and shortly afterwards Modise became so furious with his fiancée that he demanded a refund on the lobola he had paid. He allegedly sent a delegation of elders to Tabane’s family to ask if he could get back the R20 000 that he had paid for lobola.

They subsequently kissed and made up. But this time, the sources say, there will be no going back.

Earlier this year, City Press’ sister newspaper, Daily Sun, revealed shocking pictures of a bruised and bleeding Tabane, which were taken two years ago. In the pictures, she is seen with a cut on her forehead, a large bruise over her left eye, a bleeding nose and bruises on her neck.

A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity told the tabloid that he had been dispatched to Modise’s Ruimsig home a year ago.

“Lizelle claimed her ‘husband’ was beating her for no reason. But when we got there, she quickly changed her mind,” he reportedly said. The couple did not comment and Modise’s manager declined to comment on the star footballer’s personal life.

It’s not the first time Modise has shown Tabane the door. Earlier last year, Drum magazine reported that Tabane had cheated on Modise with a rich suitor and ended the relationship – and that he had kicked her out of the house.

However, at the time, Tabane denied the rumours.

Modise might be unlucky in love, but his career is looking up.

He walked away with the Nedbank Cup player of the tournament award and the gong for the Premier Soccer League midfielder of the season earlier this month
