Suspended National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega is not fit to hold office and should be dismissed, the board of inquiry into her fitness to hold office has found.
The board of inquiry, headed by Judge Cornelis Claassen, also found that Phiyega lied to the Marikana Commission of Inquiry.
A copy of the report has been submitted to Phiyega, according to a presidency statement yesterday.
The report was submitted to President Jacob Zuma on December 15, the presidency said.
Zuma is still considering the report and has written to Phiyega requesting her to make additional written representations that may assist him in considering the board of inquiry's recommendations.
