As students nationwide continue to rally in the fight for free and decolonised education, the end of the academic year has arrived and the universities are doing everything in their power to ensure that examinations run smoothly without any disruptions.
Students attending Rhodes University were outraged today after they received an email outlining the security measures to be implemented by the institution. These rules include CCTV footage at all exam venues, airport-style “pat downs” for each student entering exam halls and all venues to be locked for the duration of the exam once students have taken their seats.
The exams kicked off yesterday with the physics and information systems practicals. The last exams were scheduled for November 28.
