President Jacob Zuma has revealed government is working very hard behind the scenes investigating the details of relocating Parliament from Cape Town to Pretoria.
Zuma told Parliament during his State of the Nation Address in February that his executive had looked into the matter of having two capital cities and that the costs were too high to maintain.
The administrative capital is in Pretoria and the legislature in Cape Town. This means – particularly for the executive – that ministers must have two houses: one in Pretoria and another one in Cape Town, as well as cars and staff in both cities.
