Hiphop artist and business mogul Cassper Nyovest, went from selling out the FNB stadium to winning six awards at the SA Hip-Hop Awards show, arguably establishing himself as the most successful artist of 2017.
Refiloe Phoolo, professionally known as Cassper Nyovest, stole the show last night at the South African Hip-Hop Awards in Gold Reef City, walking away with six awards, which included the milestone award for his efforts in selling out the biggest stadium in Africa, the iconic FNB stadium.
The Tito Mboweni hitmaker made history earlier this month by having 68 000 people attended his concert at the stadium.
This is the artist’s third success of #FillUp, a trend that began in 2015 when he sold out the Ticketpro Dome, followed by Orlando Stadium.
In addition to his milestone Award, Nyovest won the most valuable award, hustler of the year, best male, best video and album of the year for his latest album Thuto.
The awards he received were a nice way to cap off a successful year the rapper has had, in and outside of the music industry. Just when you think things couldn’t get better for him, the rapper is gearing up for a mega festive celebration.
He told his fans on Instagram that he will be hosting celebratory party in his hometown, Mafikeng, for his annual Fresh Prince of Maftown show – set to take place on December 23.
His rival AKA recieved the best collabo award together with Anatii for their song 10 fingers.
Other noticeable winners of the night were DJ Speedsta who bagged the DJ of the year award, Shane Eagle won the best freshman/newcomer award, Gemini Major scooped up producer of the year, Rouge received the best female award and Youngsta CPT edged out as victor of the lyricist of the year.
Another hip -hop artist who made waves at the awards ceremony was Kwesta.
He received the song of the year award for his hit single Ngiyazfela Ngawe featuring Thabsie and scooped best digital sales, for his five times platinum achievement for his single Ngud’, one time platinum for both the Mayibabo and Nomayini tracks.
