Businessman appears for R3m cable theft
A man accused of being in possession of R3 million worth of suspected stolen cables has appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates Court.
Scrap metal business owner Frederick Kritzinger (39) was released on R5 000 bail, the police’s Lieutenant-Colonel Ronel Otto said.
His case was postponed to September 5 for further investigations.
Police acted on a tip-off and arrested Kritzinger yesterday at his scrap metal business in Futura, an industrial area in Polokwane, Limpopo.
Otto said police searched the premises and found close to 11 000kg of copper and aluminium cables.
“He could not show the documents proving the ownership of the cables.“We suspect some of the them belong to Eskom and a mining company in the Burgersfort area.”
