Four accused who are linked to expelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema have been released on bail of R40 000 each by the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court.

Lesiba Gwangwa, Kagisho Dichabe, Makgetsi Manthata and Helen Moreroa all said in their bail application statements that they “maintained their innocence and intended to plead not guilty”.

The state did not oppose bail for the four.

They face charges of fraud and corruption related to a tender awarded by the Limpopo Department of Roads and Transport to the company On-Point Engineers.

That company allegedly made payments totalling more than R1 million into Julius Malema’s Ratanang Family Trust.

Malema is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
