Jali’s Bafana omission a blessing in disguise – Palacios

Orlando Pirates coach Augusto Palacios says the fact Andile Jali was omitted from the Bafana Bafana squad to play Brazil and Mozambique is a blessing in disguise for the midfielder.

The Peruvian tactician was forced to take off Jali in the second half of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Moroka Swallows at the Orlando Stadium following yet another disappointing performance from the playmaker.

Palacios admits Jali’s showings so far this term have been well below par, and feels the Buccaneer would do well to use the international break to reflect on his performances on the pitch.

“Jali didn’t have a good game against Swallows and it is clear, I don’t play with names so I had to put in Onyekachi Okonkwo. If you don’t perform, I must give other players a chance,” Palacios told Football411.

“He must check why he is not performing and I spoke to him about this, so he must ask himself why he was not included in the Bafana team so this is good for him because it gives him a chance to look at his own performance.

“The only way a player must be in the national team is through performance, not by name. So for every player, that’s the way it is and for Jali, it is the same thing at Pirates.

“If you are not performing, then other players must get a chance,” Palacios added.
