The ambassador for LEGiT Summer 2015, Boitumelo “Boity” Thulo, spoke to City Press on set in a wet and windy Cape Town where she was shooting the lookbooks for her resort (swimwear) and nightlife range she created with the clothing label.

The three ranges will be unveiled on Thursday. They include the label’s first activewear range, a nightlife or sports luxe range and swimwear.

“The resort range was shot in Camps Bay with gorgeous beaches and we did the nightlife on the streets of Cape Town because that range is free-flowing, sexy, modern, young, fresh and perfect for upcoming December parties,” she said.

Boity said the ranges complemented her style and she was delighted to find that the collaboration was successful.

“We worked together – my input was important. What’s very important for me when I pick my clothes is simplicity and comfort, so that’s a big part of the ranges.

“Because when you feel comfy, you look comfy too.”

Boity said she was told of LEGiT’s interest in bringing her on as an ambassador in December last year.

She follows in the footsteps of the likes of Bonang Matheba, Thando Hopa, Nandi Mngoma, Minnie Dlamini, DJ Zinhle and Toya Delazy.

“It was this amazing secret and I couldn’t tell anyone,” she said.

The long process of collaboration came together this year as her ambassadorship was announced in July.

“I tried to choose stuff that has longevity, that’s not too season specific, but is also on trend and that you can wear again and again.”

Boity said the brand’s decision to create an activewear range made sense because of her active lifestyle.

On Thursday, the LEGiT x Boity collaboration will be unveiled at an event in Johannesburg.

“I’m so excited and a little nervous … I really hope people like the clothes. But I am also very grateful for this fantastic opportunity,” she said.

“I had never really thought I could do fashion, but it really allowed me to tap into a creative side I didn’t really use or know I had – which was fun.

“And it would be great to maybe do it in the future again.

Moja Love's drug-busting show, Sizokuthola, is back in hot water after its presenter, Xolani Maphanga's assault charges of an elderly woman suspected of dealing in drugs upgraded to attempted murder. In 2023, his predecessor, Xolani Khumalo, was nabbed for the alleged murder of a suspected drug dealer. What's your take on this?
