Rapper Refiloe Phoolo, AKA Cassper Nyovest, launched his funky red phone in partnership with AG Mobile and MTN last month – and on Thursday, friends and fans came to celebrate the joint venture at MTN’s head office in Fairlands, western Johannesburg.

Soccer star Teko Modise’s ex-girlfriend, model Lizelle Tabane, draped in a black bandage dress, was there to support the rapper. She and Nyovest were seen sitting next to each other, sparking rumours about whether Tabane had replaced actress Boity Thulo as his leading lady. Time will tell.

This week, Nyovest has been openly checking out women on social media, listing the women he lusts after on his SnapChat account. He made mention of TV personalities Minnie Dlamini and Nomzamo Mbatha. Tabane’s name was also on the list.

Other celebrities who attended the launch were Metro FM’s Lerato Kganyago, Khanyi Mbau, Kwela Tebza and DJ Shimza.

Nyovest entertained the guests with a number of his popular songs, including Mangwane and Malome, featuring the Mahotella Queens.

There is no doubt that Nyovest respects his craft and has a magnetic stage presence. Those gathered could not help but sing and dance along. After his performance, the rapper mingled and took pictures with his fans.

Moja Love's drug-busting show, Sizokuthola, is back in hot water after its presenter, Xolani Maphanga's assault charges of an elderly woman suspected of dealing in drugs upgraded to attempted murder. In 2023, his predecessor, Xolani Khumalo, was nabbed for the alleged murder of a suspected drug dealer. What's your take on this?
