Idols SA back in full swing

accreditation

Season 12 of Idols SA got under way this past weekend when thousands of hopefuls stood in line at The Playhouse in Durban for a shot in front of the celebrity judges.

The singing contest got much publicity last week as one of the judges, Gareth Cliff, went to court to fight for reinstatement after being fired for his comments on Twitter.

Much speculation arose about the atmosphere around the judges as Unathi Msengana and Somizi Mhlongo’s names were dragged through Cliff’s court case. But all seems well and the judging continues.

Tebogo Letsie was there to capture some of the best moments.

Cliff headed down to Durban following a court ruling that he be reinstated.
The long lines and wait did not deter the hopefuls who hope to emulate season 11’s winner Karabo Mogane.

Hopefuls that make the cut receive a golden ticket to the next phase to the competition.
The show heads to the State Theatre in Pretoria, then Carnival City in Johannesburg and the final stop will be the Grandwest Casino in Cape Town.
The show will air on M-Net and Mzansi Magic later this year.

Moja Love's drug-busting show, Sizokuthola, is back in hot water after its presenter, Xolani Maphanga's assault charges of an elderly woman suspected of dealing in drugs upgraded to attempted murder. In 2023, his predecessor, Xolani Khumalo, was nabbed for the alleged murder of a suspected drug dealer. What's your take on this?
