A married, Tshwane-based businessman says he has been a blesser for 10 years.

The man, who owns a construction company and scores plenty of lucrative government contracts, says he doesn’t understand why so many people are only now making a “big deal” about blessers and their “blessees”.

So concerned is the 38-year-old about protecting his privacy that he only agrees to speak to City Press over the telephone.

He describes himself as a “tall” and “hot, dark man”. “My shoes size is a 10, so can you imagine how tall I am,” he laughs.

He has two women he blesses. The two have never met, but they know about each other.

He considers himself a “level-three blesser” because he claims he blesses his girlfriends with iPhones, pays their rent, gives them a monthly allowance of R15 000 each, and takes them on overseas trips to exotic locations such as Dubai.

“Most girls have blessers, it’s just that they prefer not to talk about it,” he says.

He says his wife is a stay-at-home mum and looks after their three children. He hints that she no longer has the inclination to see to his every need.

The man, introduced to City Press through the BlesserFinder website, says he only dates a “certain type” of woman.

“I date girls from the age of 24 to 35; they must be yellow bones and skinny. I don’t like dating big women; they are not my type,” he says

Asked why he needs blessees in his life, he says: “They are entertaining and they make me feel young again when I’m with them. They are also exciting in bed. They do whatever I ask them to do. That’s why I wouldn’t trade my blessees for anything,” he boasts.

He says blessees are the same as side chicks. “A blessee is just a new word. So people must not get it twisted by labelling blessees as prostitutes. For me a blessee and a side chick are one and the same thing.

“People must remember that some of these blessees are professionals or academics. I guess we all cheat for different reasons.”

He says people must not get it wrong: this is not a trade exchange of money for sex.

“Do men not sleep with their side chicks? Do men not give their side chicks money?” he asks. “Let’s be honest – almost every man has at least once cheated in his life,” he says.

“I don’t see a problem if I can afford to give my blessees a monthly salary. They must look good every time I travel with them. Where are they going to get money if I don’t provide?”

The man doesn’t travel with his wife, unless it’s a work function or family holiday.

“My wife is an introvert and she prefers to stay at home, to cook and look after our children. You see why I need a blessee in my life?” he laughs.

He says as far as he knows his two blessees are not dating any other men and stick only
with him.

“I never came out with the rules. If this is what makes them happy, I’m also fine with it,” he says.

In all of this, he says he still respects his wife and has never taken another woman to his home.

“The trick is they must not know where you stay. I meet them at the hotels and guesthouses. After all, I respect my wife.”

He says if someone gets too attached to him, he ditches her.

“As much as I love my blessees, I won’t marry them and they know that. I made it loud and clear from the first day I met them. I’ve come a long way with my wife and I love her unconditionally.”
