Going green
Calling all go-getters in the green economy – there are still scholarships up for grabs for the Small Business Boost Programme run Gibs in Johannesburg.
This programme, funded by JP Morgan, entails four months of business and management training (comprising four days a month), and six months of support services (including mentorship, networking events, and facilitating access to finance and new markets), for savvy entrepreneurs operating in Gauteng’s green economy.
It aims to empower small businesses and create jobs for those involved in providing products and services in the green economy, in the hope of growing this niche sector.
The current intake runs from August to November 2016, but there are still places available in the programme, which can accommodate up to 100 small business owners.

Calling all dynamos in the home-building sector – there are scholarships up for grabs for the third intake of the Women Empowerment Programme run by the Enterprise Development Academy in Johannesburg.
Classroom sessions will take place in each of the nine provinces.
This programme, funded by the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC), entails five months of business and management training (comprising four days a month), followed by five months of support services (including mentorship, coaching, networking events, and facilitating access to finance and new markets), for savvy entrepreneurs operating in the country’s construction economy.
The programme aims to empower small businesses and create jobs for those involved in the construction industry, specifically those women who are part of the home building economy.
The NHBRC has previously put 100 women through this programme with spectacular results. Many of the women have formed consortiums and networks to take their businesses to the next level. You can read their stories of business success, and failure, from next week in City Press.
