Lira is set to burn up the small screen with a new reality TV series called Dream Chaser USA.
Although it is not yet clear which broadcaster will be flighting the new seven-part series, an announcement is expected in the next week or so.
“Negotiations with a few potential partners are at an advanced stage,” said her husband and manager, Robin Kohl, on Thursday.
The Daveyton-born singer said they were working on the final details of a soon-to-be-announced deal with a few TV channels locally and internationally.
She said the miniseries was an “honest and raw” take on her life and times in the US during a two-month “taxing tour schedule”, which included TV and radio interviews, and “limo rides with Stevie Wonder’s people”.
In a career spanning 13 years, the Feel Good star, born Lerato Molapo, feels she has done it all at home. She said the self-funded project was a result of a longstanding dream to take on the world and win.
At a function at the Jazzworx studios in Randburg on Wednesday, Lira said Dream Chaser USA was an attempt to document her journey in the US in the build-up to the American debut release of her album Rise Again.
She said the series also showcased her back-up group, The Love Band, performing at various venues and travelling with her.
“I understand, like I did when I started my career, that for me to conquer the American market, I would have to start from scratch,” she said.
And for her, performing for 300 people at various US venues is a reminder of how it was when she started her music career in 2003.
“I have no illusions about the American market and starting from scratch is the only way to make inroads into a market not many artists succeed in,” she said.
Lira’s father and stepmother live in the US, and she said seeing them after many months was wonderful.
She spent time with them before her tour began in the state of Georgia
