It's voting time and if you are clueless about who to vote for, and what you can and can't do, we have some tips for you

1. Decisions, decisions, decisions. If you still don't know who to vote for, check out the councillor candidates here. For party manifestos, you'll have to go to each organisation's site.

2. You have to vote where you are registered. To check your voting status and station, text your ID number to 32810 or visit the IEC website

3. Only a valid ID is allowed: a green book, smart card or official temporary ID will be accepted.

4. Put your mark on your ballot paper once — otherwise it's spoilt. Remember, almost doesn't count.

5. Make sure the ballot paper is stamped – otherwise it won’t count.

6. You can wear your party merchandise unless you are a party agent or a candidate.

7. Do not take photos inside the voting station. No selfies! Take them outside.

8. Take sunblock along if you’re in Johannesburg – it’s supposed to be sunny – and also a warm jacket to keep the chilly wind at bay. If you’re in Durban you may need an umbrella for the afternoon and early evening. Cape Town is scheduled to be partly cloudy for most of the day, with sunny weather forecast for the late afternoon.

9. Camping chairs and snacks may be a good idea if you’re expecting queues at your voting station.

10. Oh and apparently Sorbet will help you fix your thumbnail for free if you don’t want that ink ruining your manicure for weeks.

Yep, that's all folks!

The DA recently released a controversial election ad in which the national flag is consumed by flames. Many took to social media to criticise the party, with former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela expressing disappointment, saying the DA could have used other ways to send its message. Do you think the DA took it too far with this ad?
