Today, 17 April, marks a 100-day countdown to the Olympics in Paris, France. The multicoded event will run from 26 July to 11 August.

The momentum is building  for Team SA, with nearly 90 athletes from 13 different sporting codes having already met the Olympic qualifying criteria.

South Africa’s Olympic governing body, SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc), is expected to deliver a team in Paris, with representatives across the following codes: athletics, sport climbing, cycling (road and mountain bike), canoeing, diving, equestrian, gymnastics, hockey, rowing, Springbok Women's Sevens (rugby men are still to qualify by June), surfing, swimming and wrestling.

Mzansi is one of the countries that are observing the 100 days countdown, which started with the lighting of the Olympic torch in Greece, considered to be the original home of the Games.
