Athletics South Africa (ASA) has named World Championships bronze medallist Anaso Jobodwana in its 11-member squad for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, USA, in March.

Jobodwana (23) will contest the 60m with SA’s joint 100m record holder Henricho Bruintjies while Antonio Alkana will complete the country’s quest for a medal in the sprints and in the 60m hurdles.

The rest of Team SA is made up of long jumpers Zarck Visser and Ruswahl Samaai; Willem Coertzen (heptathlon); the 4x400m relay team of Ofentse Mogawane, Jon Seelinger, Thapelo Phora, Shaun de Jager and Sonwabiso Skhosana.

South Africa will be chasing its first medal since the 2010 indoor global championships in Doha, Qatar, where Khotso Mokoena claimed silver in the long jump.

The team came back empty-handed at the last two competitions in Turkey in 2012 and Poland two years ago.
