The year 2022 was arguably one of the most depressing in living memory. Just as we were recovering from the Covid-19 slump, the soaring prices of fuel, food, hiked interest rates, astronomic crime and unemployment figures worsened just dampened the country’s mood. 

The Phalaphalagate, the disheartening brutal crimes against innocent children and the war in Ukraine were just but some  of the many phenomena that coloured the year gone past.  

Given the bleakness of the year, it was no surprise that many of us welcomed the arrival of the festive season - and tried to make the most of it.
