Award-winning DJ, producer and businessperson DJ Tira (Mthokozisi Khathi) is looking for the people who broke into the studios of his record label, Afrotainment, and stole equipment as well as hard drives. According to a statement put out on social media, the incident happened on Wednesday night.

The internationally acclaimed DJ and his team are shattered, as the statement adds that the stolen hard drives contained unreleased music.

The statement read:

All the studio equipment was solen. This includes hard drives that consist of music files, including unreleased music. If anybody has any information or comes across people who are selling studio equipment that is suspected to be the equipment stolen from Afrotainment, please contact us immediately.

A cash reward of R20 000 was promised for anyone who has information that would lead to the recovery of the stolen equipment.

The award-winning record-label houses artists Duncan (Sphamandla Mbambo); Njabulo “Bulo” Masemola; Viggy and Virginia Qwabe, aka Qwabe Twins; Anele Dladla, known as Dladla Mshunqisi; and Tipcee (Thobeka Ndaba), to name but a few.

It is not yet clear whether there have been any developments, or a case has been opened with the police. When contacted for comment, the Sikilidi hitmaker’s phone rang unanswered and he did not reply to the text message sent to him.
