While surfing Netflix the other night, looking for something off the beaten track, something light and possibly inspirational, I stumbled upon a documentary called American Symphony. 

The doccie’s main attraction – no, make that two attractions – is that it was produced by the Obamas – Barack and his wife Michelle – and, secondly, it is an unflinching look at one year in the life of popular singer, TV show host, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jon Batiste, who has worked with the likes of Prince, Madonna, Stevie Wonder and Lenny Kravitz.

The year 2022 was arguably the most exciting but equally tumultuous in the life of Batiste. That year, at the age of 36, the New Orleans-born artist shook the music world when he won five Grammys in one night.
