Business rescue practitioners for the South African Post Office (SAPO) say their application for funding from the Temporary Employment Relief Scheme (TERS) has been rejected.

This means retrenchments – which the application hoped to limit – will have to be implemented as planned. Nearly 5 000 staff will be affected.

In a statement issued late on Tuesday, the BRPs said the ruling had been issued by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) commissioner after the Single Adjudication Committee did not recommend the application.
