WATCH: 'We take full responsibility for deceased Kusasalethu miners' - Motsepe

accreditation

Harmony Gold Non-Executive Chairman, Patrice Motsepe, said the mining company takes full responsibility for the deaths of five Kusasalethu miners, regardless of investigation findings. Watch.

Speaking at Kusasalethu Mine in Carletonville on Friday, Motsepe added that "mine workers shouldn't come to the mines to lose their lives."

Minister of mineral resources, Mosebenzi Zwane, called for a "turning point" in the safety measures of the South African mining industry.

The bodies of the last two remaining miners who were trapped underground were recovered on Thursday.

A memorial service for the five deceased miners will be held in the gold-mining town at the Kusasalethu sports field on Monday.
