Moloto Mothapo, spokesperson of the African National Congress (ANC) caucus, says that President Jacob Zuma does not have to give a detailed answer on Nkandla upgrades to Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane.

Mothapo defended Zuma's answers on Nkandla delivered during an oral question and answer session on Tuesday. Zuma responded to questions on non-security upgrades and explained the bond he obtained for his homestead prior to becoming President of the Republic of South Africa.

"I think the President was right to put the record straight," began Mothapo from his office in Parliament last week. The party mouthpiece said it was not factually correct that Zuma had to reply to Maimane in detail on what was spent on upgrades to Nkandla.
