Are you a young, queer-identifying journalist?

What we’re looking for

City Press together with The Other Foundation is offering a 10-month paid internship to a bright young candidate with a keen interest in news, multimedia, culture and social justice.

We’re looking for a young LGBTI-identifying journalist who wishes to train as they work as a news reporter and feature writer.

The beat will focus on queer justice and lifestyle issues in South Africa and around the continent, as well as gender equality and women’s rights.

You will be guided by a senior editor and must take well to critical guidance.

You must be versed in the issues of social justice and gender identity.

You must be able to tackle a variety of journalistic forms.

You must be able to adhere to deadlines.

You must be able to develop your writing style to tackle longer-form narratives.

You must hold well-reasoned opinions and be able to argue your points in our opinion section.

You must hold a degree in journalism or a field relevant to this job description or have a published portfolio for us to assess.
