“The gates of heaven have finally been opened!”
At 9am on Monday the sale of alcohol was unbanned, and these were the words of those who were first in line – not at the Pearly Gates – but at Liquor City in Tembisa.
It was 66 days since the government had banned the sale of alcohol as part of a raft of regulations to help stop the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
