The Public Service Commission (PSC) has taken North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha to task for being referee and player in the irregular appointment of a chief director for supply chain management in the health department – a senior management job with an annual salary of more than R1 million.
In a report dated January 31 2020, the PSC punched holes in the recruitment of Freda Tsimane and recommended action against Sambatha, administrator Jeanette Hunter and other senior officials.
Until 2017, Tsimane was acting head of department and chief financial officer (CFO) at the public works and roads department.
