Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has dismissed the criticism and comments made by Professor Glenda Gray – the chief executive and president of the SA Medical Research Council and who serves as a member of the ministerial advisory committee on the Covid-19 coronavirus – towards his department and government’s national command council on Covid-19 as “unfounded” and “misleading”.
Mkhize took on Gray following her series of controversial and critical comments made about the country’s nationwide lockdown last week.
News24 quoted Gray as having said, among other things, that some of the lockdown regulations were “almost as if someone is sucking regulations out of their thumb and implementing rubbish”.
