Sars confiscates R69.2m in illegal Viagra for 2018/2019

A report released by the South African Revenue Services in April stated that the institution of the taxman had confiscated R3 694 742 928 between April 1 2018 and March 31 2019. 

This was R1 billion more than the previous year, which clocked in at R2 461 425 369. SARS also made about 2000 more busts in this period: It recorded  6 828 busts on its books. 

More than a fifth of those busts related to counterfeit clothing, footwear and other goods valued at R2.7 billion. Narcotics, valued at R535 million, were also seized in 892 busts.
