The ANC was left with egg on its face after a Twitter hashtag to commemorate the party’s upcoming 105th anniversary started trending for the all the wrong reasons.

Expecting the hashtag to be a tool in promoting the idea of unity in action, the ANC, instead, got a sharp response when social media users used the #WeAreANC tag to tweet about service delivery problems, the status of ANC leadership and corruption.

Despite the counterblast…

…the ruling party marched on steadfast.
