As the race towards a new ANC national executive draws to an end today, where voting is currently taking place at the Nasrec Expo Centre, prominent figures have taken to social media, in public support of who has their support at the 54th ANC national conference.

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula called for “women power” in a tweet, backing ANC presidential hopeful Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

ANC national spokesperson Zizi Kodwa on the other hand is rooting for current deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa to take over the reins from outgoing ANC president Jacob Zuma.

Former ANC national spokesperson Jackson Mthembu also put his voting power in the hands of the Ramaphosa camp.

On Saturday, Baleka Mbete publically endorsed Cyril Ramaphosa for the spot as the incoming ANC president, after previously supporting Dlamini-Zuma.

ANC deputy presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu, who Ramaphosa has endorsed as his deputy took to Twitter yesterday, calling for supporters to “recapture the right path”.

Within the Dlamini-Zuma camp, ANC Mpumalanga chairperson and deputy president candidate David Mabuza has also featured on social media.
