As always, the memes kept rolling in, their acerbic wit getting us through the rough patches. Here are three memes that were big this year:
1. MEME OF THE YEAR
This picture of a five-year-old Cardi B spawned memes across the internet. Her sassy little pose just spoke to us.
2. RUNNER-UP: Nike brought it hard, gifting us with inspirational adverts featuring the likes of US footballer and political activist Colin Kaepernick and our own Caster Semenya. Of course, the internet had to have a little fun with the accompanying poster.
