Zambian sharpshooter Lazarous Kambole, who this week represented his country at the Cosafa Cup in Durban, has reportedly agreed to terms with Kaizer Chiefs for the new season.

The talismanic Zesco United striker conquered Amakhosi in the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

A source in Zambia told City Press on Friday that the 25-year-old had indeed made an agreement with Chiefs, and all that was left was for him was to put pen to paper in a deal that would lure him to Naturena as Amakhosi seek to rebuild following yet another bleak season.

Attempts to reach Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung to confirm this development were in vain as phone calls went unanswered.

The club could make its best signing yet with this highly rated player. Coach Ernst Middendorp saw him in real time when he helped Zesco to a 5-2 aggregate win that subsequently denied Amakhosi passage to the Confederation Cup group stage last season.

Kambole told SABC Sport in an interview this week that he was looking forward to linking up with Chiefs’ Zimbabwean striker, Khama Billiat.

Places are up for grabs in the Chiefs front line following the release of strikers Ryan Moon and Gustavo Páez, among others who were offloaded by the club in recent weeks.

. Elsewhere, Lehlohonolo Majoro has rejoined AmaZulu from Bidvest Wits. The 32-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Usuthu, while Wits coach Gavin Hunt told City Press that he was still not sure if his goalkeeper, Darren Keet, would be with the club next season.

The Afcon-bound Bafana Bafana shot-stopper has not agreed to a contract extension and will be a free agent by the end of this month.

. Newly promoted Stellenbosch FC this week rewarded coach Steve Barker with a four-year contract after he steered the team to automatic promotion to the Absa Premiership.

This ended speculation linking Polokwane City coach Jozef Vukušic to the NFD champions, despite the Limpopo-based side telling City Press recently that the Slovakian mentor still had a contract with them.

. Former PSL golden boot winner Moeketsi Sekola, who topped the goal-scoring charts with 14 goals for Free State Stars in the 2014/15 season, is looking at suitors after he was released by Highlands Park, his agent Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi confirmed.

Mulovhedzi also told City Press that he was negotiating the release of his other client, defender Sifiso Mbhele, from relegated Free State Stars.

“I am also waiting for Pirates to advise if they are keeping or releasing Justice Chabalala,” he said.
