Plans are in the pipeline for Zolani “Last Born” Tete to challenge Englishman Lee Haskins for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title next month with a view to getting a World Boxing Association (WBA) title-unification championship shot at a later stage.
Tete, who fights under the banner of English promoter Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, beat Mexico’s Jose Santos Gonzalez by a seventh-round technical knockout at Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, three weeks ago to win the vacant IBF international bantamweight belt.
This was his debut under Warren’s bill after both agreed to work together in December.
