Looking to keep your fingers busy with the latest trendy technology? Nafisa Akabor offers three options that are worth the splurge.

Canon Zoemini S

Canon’s new Zoemini S instant camera is compelling, with its cute sticker printouts, dinky size that fits into a pocket and the ability to print from a smartphone gallery. The camera is slim in design and easy to grab for a night out or next travel adventure without feeling as bulky as FujiFilm’s Instax range. Set-up is simple; it pairs over Bluetooth initially and you’d need the Canon Mini Print app to print off your device. I found the latter more useful than snapping pictures directly off the 8MP camera, due to the higher quality on my iPhone. It has a selfie mirror, ring-light, remote shutter and SD card slot. The results are cute credit card-size printouts that are actually stickers, using the inkless Zink technology. It’s almost impossible not to have fun when you own an instant camera. I found that the Zoemini S heats up when you try to print 10 images in a row and its battery life is average. It’s available in black, white and rose gold. Zink photo paper sold separately.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean electric toothbrush

The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean electric toothbrush promises to whiten your teeth within a week and so we put it to the test. After the first use, a stubborn coffee stain on my bottom tooth disappeared. I’ve been using three of five modes the most: clean, polish and white; and it’s safe to say the days of having stained teeth are over. The modes last a full two minutes with a little beep at every 30 seconds, so you can work on your quadrants; it switches off when time is up. There’s also a setting for sensitive teeth and gum care. The toothbrush comes with a glass charger, a nifty travel case and plug. I’ve already taken it on a couple of trips and it’s super convenient to travel with. Even though it’s a bit of a splurge, I’m going all out to say it is worth it. But you need to ask yourself how much you are willing to put down on your home dental care, if it means having immaculate, cleaned teeth all the time. Available in black, white, pink and rose gold.

Moja Love's drug-busting show, Sizokuthola, is back in hot water after its presenter, Xolani Maphanga's assault charges of an elderly woman suspected of dealing in drugs upgraded to attempted murder. In 2023, his predecessor, Xolani Khumalo, was nabbed for the alleged murder of a suspected drug dealer. What's your take on this?
