In Black Modernisms and White Saviours, his review of an important new art exhibition Black Modernisms in South Africa (1940 – 1990) at the Wits Art Museum, our critic Lwandile Fikeni wrote about the unhappiness of the show’s black curators.
They feel they are being sidelined by white curators who are acting as gatekeepers of black South African art history. Now another of the show’s curators, Bongani Mahlangu, has joined the fray.
