Minds went wild when everyone on social media heard the words House of BnG, wondering what television personality and businesswoman Bonang Matheba could be up to.
After much speculation for almost a week, all was revealed on Monday at a private function at the Riboville Boutique Hotel in Waterfall. Guests were welcomed with soft music and a relaxed atmosphere as they entered the venue.
The woman of the moment, Queen B as she’s known, made a grand entrance followed by her on-and-off BFF, Somizi Mhlongo. They were followed by TV crews as they posed side by side before being seated at the same spot.
House of BNG is Matheba’s very own luxury sparkling wine which she says took her two and half years to complete.
The Méthode Cap Classique the House of BNG Brut and Brut Rosé are made from local grapes and everything else that encompasses House of BNG, she said. “I call the House of BNG my love letter to Africa.”
The theme was Picnic in the Hamptons and that is what guests got from her dress which she said was designed via WhatsApp by Gert-Johan Coetzee while she was in New York.
Matheba was drenched in wealth and luxury. She took time out to walk around the venue to greet guests in her long mauve dress that had a slit on the side leading all the way up her thigh, with her weave tied into a bun and her make-up done to a T.
She also announced that next year she is going to introduce a wine named after her mother, Charlotte.
Matheba’s family, including her mom and dad, were present, looking thrilled and gorgeous.
New moms Luthando “Lootlove” Shosha and Jessica Nkosi looked stunning among other celebrities, including Matheba’s bestie, Lorna Maseko, Khanyi Mbau, Boity and Nadia Nakai.
Guests got to see Matheba’s beautiful brand advertisement and tasted the MCCs. I tasted the brut and it’s wonderful, but it tells you to slow down after two glasses because you might get tiddly.
A cheeseboard, cold meat, biscuits and crackers were served as starters. For the main course, we went back to Kasi vibes with braai meat which included pork ribs, wors, salads and pap.
About 20 000 bottles were available online on Wednesday and all of them were sold out. Each bottle costs R399.99 and is sold at Woolworths.
