Affordable stay It won’t break the bank

It’s almost time to ring in the New Year in Cape Town, as many of us like to do during the festive season. And to add it as an option for accommodation, I went to check out Onomo Hotel’s new Signature Lux Hotel at the Foreshore. Aimed at mostly business travellers and millennials, the modern and beautifully designed hotel gives the feel of a home away from home as convenience, affordability and luxury converge.

Situated on the central Heerengracht Street, Signature Lux Hotel guests can look forward to all the trademarks they’ve become accustomed to at the Signature Lux Hotel Waterfront and the Signature Lux Hotel Sandton. Having stayed at the Waterfront hotel before, the new addition doesn’t disappoint.

They also have one of my other favourite travel innovations, something that all hotels should have, a self-service check-in at the hotel lobby. You walk into the hotel, tap a few clicks on the touch screen, and your hotel key card is issued.

Rooms are minimalistic, with an open-plan design and equipped with smart televisions using Chromecast technology, which allows guests to watch personalised TV such as Netflix.

Paul Kelley, co-owner and developer of Richland Properties, says they built the hotel in an eco-friendly manner, but also with the modern-day traveller in mind.

“Millennials want connectivity, flexibility and freedom. Hotels will either charge you for Wi-Fi or give it to you for free and then cap it, shape it and limit you. But not at the Signature Lux.”

Situated in the heart of the city centre, the hotel is within walking distance from the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Artscape Theatre Centre and Cape Town CBD, making it the ideal home away from home for work and play.

The hotel is located on the MyCiTi bus route and the bus times are displayed in the lobby
