Spending time with your partner is great when you have a choice in the matter, but this lockdown is going to force us into each other’s space for at least 21 days.

I believe that, just like everything else, it can be managed, but it will take some work from all parties involved.

Don’t let the days wind down without any planning. Create structure and some sort of routine. Allocate time for work, meals, time on your own and time with your partner. The trick is not to only allocate time in the bedroom with your loved one. Come up with things to do together before bed, like watching a movie together or spending time talking. If you have children in the mix, include them in the schedule by allocating homework or schoolwork time and play time.

Don’t make the mistake of letting them into the time set aside for you and your partner. They can either be in bed or enjoying free time at play, depending on when your allocated time with your spouse is.

It’s important to stick to the schedule. Don’t let your work time spill into other areas of your schedule. Get creative. Design and play your own sex board game. Do online sex quizzes and find or come up with your own 21-day challenge regarding the different things you both want to do in the bedroom.

It’s going to be a long 21 days if you fail to be kind to each other. Bear in mind that these are unusual circumstances and they’re only temporary. Exercise your patience as never before. Re-establish your friendship with your spouse and enjoy their company.

For those who are apart during this time, keep things heated with sexting and phone calls. Set aside time to chat to your loved one. There are several apps available for both Android and iOS on the market. Try Rabb.it – it allows you to watch shows together and chat instantly. It requires a Wi-Fi connection for it to work. Enjoy date nights geographically apart but virtually together.

Another app is Happy Couple: it consists of fun love quizzes designed to help couples find out more about each other.

Choose to fall in love again with your partner over the next 21 days. The right attitude can go a long way in ensuring you have a great experience with your partner.

Moja Love's drug-busting show, Sizokuthola, is back in hot water after its presenter, Xolani Maphanga's assault charges of an elderly woman suspected of dealing in drugs upgraded to attempted murder. In 2023, his predecessor, Xolani Khumalo, was nabbed for the alleged murder of a suspected drug dealer. What's your take on this?
