After bagging her third international award, TV darling Terry Pheto says she is nowhere near done.
Pheto (38), who has been in the acting industry for 15 years, scooped the best actress award for her role in the movie Faces at the British Urban Film Festival in London this week.
Faces is a multinarrative feature film set across four storylines that follow a group of characters as their lives begin to unravel.
This is not the first time Pheto has been recognised for her work – she won the prestigious Golden Horn award for best supporting actress in Tsotsi and scooped the best supporting actress award at the National Film Awards for her role in United Kingdom.
“Nothing is more fulfilling than waking up every day and doing what I love. As long as I am on set, whether I am part of the cast or working behind the scenes, it makes me happy,” she said.
Pheto, who is also Africa’s first female ambassador for Swiss watchmaker Longines, added that everything she had achieved did not come easily.
“There are dry seasons – one day you are working and the next day you are not. There are days when you don’t know where you’ll get your next paycheque from, and that’s frustrating. Also, it’s important to have other sources of income,” she said.
But she admits that hard work and determination have taken her this far as an actress.
“I always advise young aspiring actors to have a vision board on which to write down their goals so they keep working towards them. Most importantly, I tell them to never give up on their dreams,” she said.
