Who’s that Tweep?

accreditation

Every now and again we like to feature Twitter users who make us LOL or go ‘hmm, that’s deep bra’. Introducing 27-year-old Cape Town-based copywriter @MegStaDeane, whose witty, dirty, in-tune content always lights up our feeds.

We slid into Megan Stacy Deane’s – or @MegStaDeane – DMs this week and asked if she’d do a Q&A with #Trending. Her reply? “Yeah I’m down for some Q&Ass”. Here’s what she had to say for herself:

1. In your bio you describe yourself as “sex and body positive”. What’s that about?
The patriarchy desperately wants to control women’s sex lives and confidence. Freeing yourself from those confines WILL bring you peace and happiness. NGAF is the new black!

2.You tweet a lot about Afrikaans – and those seem to be your most popular. Tell me about your relationship with Afrikaans.
I really think Afrikaans tweets are the funniest. Sometimes they’re not even jokes but I’ll laugh. I don’t speak Afrikaans but I understand it because my parents speak it.

3.How addicted to Twitter are you?
I wouldn’t say addicted but I’m on it daily. It’s where I get my news; it’s where I learn new things; it’s where I get to interact with interesting people. For me it’s a good place. The memes are good too.

4.Do guys ever slide into your DMs?
There have definitely been a few inappropriate messages but not that many; well nothing worthy of my time and energy anyway.

5. What is the cutest animal there is?
This isn’t even up for debate because it’s obviously the giant panda! My favourite animal in the world. I’m proper obsessed.

6. What should we go and do when we visit Cape Town?
Cocaine? Jk! The beaches are pretty epic! I love a good sea, sand and sunshine mission.

7.What is your favourite thing you’ve ever tweeted?
My favourites are often different to everyone else’s favourite. I love my buttella tweet – “Who called it a soft poo instead of buttella?”

8. Which other tweep should we be following?
Obviously @Lindyyay

The DA recently released a controversial election ad in which the national flag is consumed by flames. Many took to social media to criticise the party, with former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela expressing disappointment, saying the DA could have used other ways to send its message. Do you think the DA took it too far with this ad?
