Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha went to court to stop the airing of a new docuseries about them after they saw Moja Love channel promotional material that depicted them in a bad light.
The couple also alleged that they did not sign a formal agreement with all the parties involved.
The three-part docuseries titled Impilo: Mampintsha West Ink was scheduled to air on Thursday night.
But on Thursday Moja Love was instructed to remove any video clips and content it had posted on social media regarding the affair and personal lives of the couple.
The controversial couple had agreed to a six-day interview conducted by Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye at their home in Durban in November last year.
According to court papers filed at the Johannesburg High Court, Mampintsha stated in his founding affidavit that on November 11 he had a meeting with all the parties involved and they agreed that prior to airing the doccie he would be involved in editing the material that would be broadcast.
“We did not worry about how we conducted ourselves before the camera because we knew that I would be involved in editing the video clips to be broadcast, to sever aspects of our personal loves and to focus on aspects relating to the business

“Jub Jub edited and involved me in doing so in the first video recording clip, which was an hour long and was to be broadcast on January 23. I was satisfied with this video as it focused on the running of the business and most parts including embarrassing parts of my personal relationship with Babes had been removed,” Mampintsha wrote.
However, Mampintsha said that on January 17 Jub Jub published a video trailer of him and his girlfriend quarrelling on social media.
He said he felt that the material that was going to be broadcast not only undermined their privacy but would have financial consequences for them.
“I became worried after seeing the embarrassing clip we had agreed would be excluded from broadcasting ... and contacted Jub Jub to remove the trailer he posted on Instagram. He undertook to do so and assured me that what would be broadcast on January 23 would be different. He did not remove the trailer clip.”
A week ago City Press reported that for the first time viewers would witness the controversial couple, whose real names are Bongekile Simelane and Mandla Maphumulo, accusing each other of infidelity.
There were also scenes of them swearing at each other.
On Friday, City Press spoke to the couple’s lawyer, Ayanda Mngadi from Ayanda Shazi and Associates, who refused to comment on the matter at this stage.
All she could say was that the couple would be back in court on April 2.
Mampintsha, Babes Wodumo and Jub Jub were not available for comment.
However, Mampintsha wrote a lengthy message on Instagram on Thursday: “As your entertainers, and sometimes inspirers, we always strive to keep you seeing us in a good light. But, as human beings, we accept with regret that we will fail you at times.”
He said they had recorded the show with intentions to show fans “our lives in respect of a company we have built with your support. The show could not have taken place with parts of our lives being shown.”
Moja Love released a statement on its Twitter page on Thursday, stating that it would no longer air Impilo owing to the couple’s order to stop the broadcast.
“Jub Jub, a close friend to Mampintsha and Babes, wanted to offer the couple an opportunity to explain the abuse incident. Today the couple decided to go to court to stop the broadcasting of the interview.”
On April 2, Moja Love will challenge the court and give reasons the doccie should be broadcast.
