The final season of one of the greatest shows produced is under way and fans can’t get enough of it. A brother had to stay off Twitter entirely on Mondays for fear of spoilers. This series is a moment in pop culture, in art and anyone not watching is playing themselves, especially as I will not be including any kind of glossary for this review.

I was taken aback at how quickly things came to an end for my homie, the Night King, who I had chosen in a bet as to who would sit on the iron throne. To quote Drake at this year’s Billboard awards: “Shout out to Arya Stark for putting in that work.”

Something you might find hard to believe is that, in episode four, The Last of the Starks, a Starbucks coffee mug was left on the table in the banqueting hall at Winterfell. An honest mistake by those responsible for set design. Before this was pointed out to me I could not accept that one of the best shows could slip like that. Starbucks used it as an assist and tweeted: “To be honest we’re surprised she didn’t order a dragon drink.”

It was a blunder, but it drives home just how monumental this programme is. It trends every week at the same time for the whole day. US rappers are releasing GOT-inspired mixtapes and tracks, such as Power is Power by SZA, The Weekend and Travis Scott. Networks like HBO and the rest are scrambling to find the next big wave when this subsides.

Moja Love's drug-busting show, Sizokuthola, is back in hot water after its presenter, Xolani Maphanga's assault charges of an elderly woman suspected of dealing in drugs upgraded to attempted murder. In 2023, his predecessor, Xolani Khumalo, was nabbed for the alleged murder of a suspected drug dealer. What's your take on this?
