Want to watch South Africa’s most exciting new film, for free, before anyone else? You’re invited to the City Press screening of Back of the Moon, happening in Joburg, Durban and Cape Town on August 28. Popcorn and soft drinks on us!

It’s 1958 Sophiatown. On the eve of his home being demolished by apartheid police, Badman, a notorious gangster, decides to fight them to the death.

But then Eve, a gorgeous torch singer, is thrust into his orbit. On the last day of his life he finds something worth living for.

This is the plot of Back of the Moon, which recently won Best SA Feature Film at the 40th Durban International Film Festival and is raking in acclaim.

It stars Richard Lukunku, Moneoa Moshesh, Lemogang Tsipa, Thomas Gumede, S’dumo Mtshali and Israel Matseke-Zulu and is directed by Angus Gibson (Mandela [1996]).

The film releases on September 6 nationally, but City Press readers are invited to watch it before anyone else. All you have to do is send your details to us via SMS.

The screenings will be on August 28 at 8pm at Maponya Mall in Johannesburg, Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban and Cavendish Square in Cape Town. Guests will receive double tickets, popcorn and soft drinks. Ten lucky Joburg entrants will also receive an official Back of the Moon T-shirt.
