One of the most successful rappers in the country Cassper Nyovest has just fallen short of his target of 75 000 people to #FillUpFnbStadium.

Nyovest's manger Lerato “T-Lee” Moiloa confirmed to City Press that 68 000 people were scanned by the time he took to the stage.

However, more people were said to be outside the stadium too.

This is the artist's third installment of #FillUp. In October 2015 he attempted to fill the 20 000 seater Ticketpro Dome, while last year took to the Orlando Stadium which has capacity of 40 000. In both cases he filled up the venue.

This year, Nyovest decided to fill up the largest stadium, not only in South Africa, but in Africa: FNB Stadium, which has a capacity of 94 736.

By 9pm there were still thousands of people streaming in, with many still stuck in traffic.

While those in traffic were left frustrated, the crowd in the stadium made sure that the atmosphere was electric. And with DJ Shimza on the decks the party was indeed lit.

Last week, Nyovest told City Press that this was his last 'fill up' in Gauteng, he now plans to conquer other provinces.

When The Family Tree owner first announced he want to fill up The Dome there were many who didn't believe he could do it.

His biggest rival AKA even dissed him on his song, Composure, saying: “Tryna fill up The Dome, 'bout to fill up your home”.

But he went on to make history by becoming the first South African musician to #FillUpTheDome.

The Tito Mboweni hitmaker has also inspired other musicians.

This year, gospel singer Dr Tumi followed in Nyovest's footsteps and became the first gospel artist to fill up the TicketPro Dome in August.

He then thanked the hip-hop star on Twitter for inspiring him to achieve the feat.

#FillUpFnbStadium was consistently one of the biggest trends on Twitter with other celebrities like Pearl Thusi and KO supporting him.

Even if Nyovest does not reach his goal of 75 000 people the fact that he manged to fill up two thirds of the largest stadium in Africa is no mean feat.

The DA recently released a controversial election ad in which the national flag is consumed by flames. Many took to social media to criticise the party, with former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela expressing disappointment, saying the DA could have used other ways to send its message. Do you think the DA took it too far with this ad?
