State Security Minister Ayanda Dlodlo has tested negative for the Covid-19 coronavirus.
Dlodlo took to Twitter on Friday morning saying she had received her results after going into self-isolation.
This was after an official, who accompanied them on a trip to the Republic of Congo two weeks ago, tested positive for Covid-19.
“I got my test results back and I tested negative for Covid-19. Thank you so much to all who had me in their thoughts and wished the best for me,” said Dlodlo.
She urged South Africans to stay safe during the 21-day national lockdown.
Dlodlo and International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor have been in self-isolation since the weekend.
According to her spokesperson Lunga Ngqengelele, Pandor had since tested negative while Dlodlo had been awaiting her test results.
The two ministers travelled to Oyo in the Republic of the Congo for an AU meeting on the situation in Libya. On their return, an official working closely with Pandor tested positive for Covid-19.
But Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, who had accompanied Dlodlo and Pandor, is not self-isolating. On Wednesday and Thursday she attended press briefings as South Africa got ready for the 21-day national lockdown.
President Cyril Ramaphosa tested negative for Covid-19, a day before the country was expected to go on lockdown on Thursday.
