It seems what Nigerian Afrobeats musician Adekunle Gold touches turns into gold. He gradually grabbed global attention after the release of his 2014 single Sade, with his debut album, Gold, released in 2016, climbing to number seven on the Billboard World Albums chart.
After almost 10 years in the game, he shares that the success he feels he has achieved is a result of his consistency and hard work. His fifth album, Tequila Ever After, released in July, was inspired by the great feeling he had after drinking tequila for the first time in April last year.

As a storyteller, he wanted to share the same ecstatic feeling he had after taking the shot with his fans through this album.
The singer, who started his career as a graphic designer, had several collaborations on this album, including with global stars Pharell Williams and Nile Rodgers.
He believes reaching the height of his career did not happen overnight, as he put himself out there and took a chance on his talent by organising local and international concerts, including in the UK, which sold out.

The singer also shares that he addresses the social ills in his home country and mental health issues on his social media platforms.
The singer, who takes his cap off to the amapiano genre, visited South Africa to perform for the first time on its stage at the Friends of Amstel two-day music experience. He headlined on 11 November.
Even with the success he is enjoying and the global dominance he's building, Adekunle's passion and drive lie in being a great family man.
