#TrendingAwards2016: Our songs of the year

accreditation

This year has been a busy one, with lots of ups and downs in politics, students movements on fees and not to mention the international events around us.

Luckily, music was always there to save us. One can always relate to it and there were plenty of newcomers and legends in the industry making it bigger from dance to hip-hop.

Here are our picks of the best songs for the year:

5. Riky Rick: Sidlukotini

The 28-year-old KwaMashu-born rapper, actor and record producer’s single Sidlukotini set the year on fire.

4. Nasty C: Hell Naw

Nasty C just drips swag, and Hell Naw gave this new kid on the block bona fide street cred.

3. Black Coffee ft Shekhinah: Your Eyes

The supreme DJ dominated the airwaves with this dance hit that featured awe-inspiring vocals by Shekhinah.

2. Kwesta ft Cassper Nyovest: Ngud’

With his raspy voice and unmistakable style, Kwesta gave us the coolest party song of the year.

Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi aka Kwesta

1. Babes Wodumo ft Mampintsha: Wololo

Without a doubt, the song that stole 2016 was Babes Wodumo’s. If you didn’t jam to Wololo, then you’re just dololo.

The DA recently released a controversial election ad in which the national flag is consumed by flames. Many took to social media to criticise the party, with former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela expressing disappointment, saying the DA could have used other ways to send its message. Do you think the DA took it too far with this ad?
