Convenience and comfort: Bafana’s home away from home

accreditation

When it comes to choosing an ideal base camp, Bafana Bafana often gets it right and their hotel in Egypt is testament to this.

Located adjacent to the Cairo International Airport, the Novotel hotel has served as home away from home for coach Stuart Baxter and his 23-man squad since their arrival in the Egypt capital last week for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

The four-star establishment is away from the hustle and bustle of a big city.

And that it is inside the proximity of one of Africa’s largest airports means the team is within close observation of high-level security.

This is in addition to the security detail that has been provided for by the Afcon organisers for all the 24 teams participating in the continental championships.

The Novotel not only offers peace of mind but it has just the right amenities that include a well-equipped gymnasium and two swimming pools.

Bafana

Bafana are also conveniently closer to their training ground at Aero Sports Club, a multipurpose sports complex that is about 15 minutes away and there is no issue when it comes to traffic flow unlike in downtown Cairo.

It also takes them less than 30 minutes to Al Salam Stadium, which hosts Group D games.

The question is: which team would underperform when they have a balance of convenience and comfort?

Bafana play Namibia today at 10pm.
