The practice of callisthenics has become a fairly strong trend in the world of fitness. This approach involves using your own body weight as resistance. Gruelling exercises that are linked to this discipline are planking, the pull-up, man-ups and an array of core stabilising moves that will leave you feeling and looking new, should you have the grit to persist.

This particular form of exercise is associated with street culture. Just a few years ago, the iconic Back To The City hip-hop festival had a crew of callisthenics performers showing off how buff they were in Newtown, Johannesburg.
