The Khumalo sisters, Kelly and Zandie, seem to be doing just fine despite the police’s failure to find the murderer of the late Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa, who was killed at their mother’s house in Vosloorus in October 2014.
Kelly launched the second season of her TV show Love and Matrimony and Zandie celebrated her debut album, Izikhali ZamaNtungwa.
Kelly was the first to celebrate her success at Dorkay building in Johannesburg.
The event, hosted on the rooftop of the building, started slowly with guests dressed in red to celebrate Valentine’s week.
The waiters were topless, hogging the limelight as guests, especially the women, who could not help staring at the hunks.
“I remember when I was approached to host the show, I said, have you run out of the best presenters in the country? ... I have not been really lucky in love. So what exactly am I going to talk about?
“But I then realised: I know for sure that God truly loves me.
“This season I am more hands-on with everything from the script and the guests to the look and feel of the set. This has allowed me to create my perfect talk show,” Kelly said.
Kelly sang three songs, serenading the guests, which helped to distract the staring brigade, who recalled the lyrics and started to sing along, especially to her famous song Uthando.
Love and Matrimony will include celebrities in the line-up to share their love, marriage and break-ups.
Meanwhile, Zandie was over the moon and bullish about the prospects of her album launched at KCC La Vie en Rose north of Johannesburg.
Her event was well attended, largely by musicians, unlike her sister’s event.
Among the audience were kwaito king Arthur Mafokate, songwriter and music producer Mojalefa Thebe, Ghetto Ruff record label mogul Lance Stehr and Candy “Tsamandebele” Mokwena, who was at both events.
Although fans danced to her music and nodded to her beat, with a sister like Kelly hogging the headlines and music charts, she has a mountain to climb.
Fans could not help but judge her performance compared with that of Kelly’s music and voice.
But she compensated with a well-planned event that served delicious food and was generous with all kinds of drinks.
Love and Matrimony Season 2 will start on Saturday, February 24 at 7.30pm on GauTV channel 265
